The academic guest residence of the Carlsberg Foundation rests on historic ground: It is located in the new Carlsberg quarter of Copenhagen, which has been developed on the site of the former brewery. The award-winning apartment building from Praksis Arkitekter subtly combines urban modernity with the history of the brewery. Video intercoms from Siedle are painted the same colour as the entrances and underline the meticulous architecture in every detail.

The planners focused on harmonious proportions and the interplay between light and dark. The warm brown tones of the doors and facade elements seamlessly continue on the stainless steel surfaces of the video intercoms. The customised paint finish and the Siedle Classic design line make the communication system an integral part of the entrance.

Siedle Classic is used as a contemporary take on the classic intercom system and links this look with the quality and solidity of solid metal. At the same time, the Classic door stations also ensure security and convenience with video feed transmission. Siedle cameras also ensure excellent vision at night. In the 22 apartments, door calls are received on video indoor stations from the Siedle Basic design line. Visiting academics can clearly see who is at the door at any time on their screens.

Renowned architecture prize

The numerous fine details of this new build played a key role in gaining it a special award: The Danish Association of Architects has awarded the academic guest residence the renowned ‘Store Arne’ (Big Arne) prize. In their statement, the jury of expert peers highlighted the sensitive approach to the history of the place, which has been carried out masterfully with architectural forethought.
