The “Erhardt 10” residential complex in Munich impresses with its exceptional architecture, sophisticated design – and skilfully matched intercom systems. The door stations in the Siedle Classic design line are made of solid, burnished brass. The metal accentuates the facade design while having a variable appearance. It is a lively, changing material which was deliberately selected.

Door intercom systems with this metal surface develop their own aesthetic over time. Every system supplied is unique as the brass plates are burnished by hand. Over time this material changes. Wind and weather play a role as does use and so these influence the speed and manner in which this visual change occurs. The material often gradually grows darker and becomes more homogeneous; however stripes or bright spots can appear. These features are unpredictable but are desirable and have no effect on the functionality or durability of the door intercom system. Rather, these effects create an authentic patina which gives both the door intercom system and the entrance their own unique character.

Urban densification

The Erhardtstraße housing complex features ten of these door stations: Visitors are greeted by video intercoms made of burnished brass at the main entrance and the nine side entrances. This new build at the edge of the Gärtnerplatz quarter, direct on the river Isar, consists of four sub-areas, which are connected via two inner courtyards. With a varied building typology, architect Thomas Kröger’s inner-city densification provides 28 apartments with a total of 3,000 m2 of living space on a tight building area.

Facade with trompe-l’œil effect

Intelligent use of space and exceptional architecture form a congenial alliance in this project. The facade design uses the sgraffito technique and creates a trompe-l’œil effect which gives a three-dimensional appearance to the surfaces. High-quality materials such as steel, glass and copper underline the exquisite design which is skilfully accentuated by the brass door stations – in the purist form of the Siedle Classic design line. The video intercoms with laser-inscribed building numbers fulfil the client’s need for security and the residents’ desire for convenience. All systems transmit door calls with live feed to Siedle Basic video indoor stations. The intelligent camera technology from Siedle also offers an excellent view even under challenging lighting conditions and at night. This means that the residents of “Erhardt 10” can get a clear picture of visitors at the entrance at all hours.

Two inner courtyards

The four-part housing complex in Erhardtstraße has two internal courtyards, which are accessed via a glazed entrance. The sophisticated facade design using sgraffito technique along with high-quality materials such as steel, glass, copper and burnished brass also underline the unique character of this urban new build in the patio area.

Haus zur Isar

The “Haus zur Isar” lies directly on Erhardtstraße and is the immediately visible section of the four-part ensemble. The facade pattern using sgraffito technique creates a trompe-l’œil effect; the intercom systems made of burnished brass accentuates the character and underline the high-quality material.
