Focus in silver: Baden-Württemberg International Design Prize for Siedle in-house telephones

11.10.2007
The new in-house telephones from Siedle have been awarded the "Focus in Silver" by the Baden-Württemberg International Design Prize. This prestigious award for professional designers and companies is conferred once a year on a specific design theme. This year, the panel of judges was recognizing the contribution made by the entered products to enhancing security. By awarding this prize, the panel of judges was acknowledging the growing importance attached to the issue of security. It plays an ever more important role in the assessment of products. Siedle in-house telephones enhance security on several different levels:

1. Speech: Speech connection to the door
2. Surveillance: Visual contact without revealing the observer's presence
3. Inspection: Zooming onto details, movement of the picture cut-out (face, identity pass…)
4. Storing: The integrated video memory module records pictures of visitors, an optional memory card permits transportation and archiving.
5. Response: 7 programmable buttons can be used to initiate up to 14 functions (lighting, locking and unlocking, connection of cameras…)

The design adds operating reliability and user convenience to these essential security functions. The Focus in Silver was awarded in recognition of this achievement, testifying to the excellence of the innovative concept evolved by Siedle's designer-in-chief Eberhard Meurer. The Baden-Württemberg International Design Prize is the fifth prestigious design award conferred on the new device generation launched in 2006.
