IP Communication: Planning security for large buildings

Building communication for large-scale projects
Large-scale projects such as clinics and hotels place complex demands on the planning of building communication. With the Access Professional IP system, Siedle is offering a technology that meets all the important requirements – and appears at the door in the established, award-winning system design from Siedle.

Access Professional is a pure software system without a connection to any specific hardware. Thanks to IP technology the cable length and hence the size and expanse of the property plays practically no role. The system can be incorporated into local area networks and offers interfaces to control systems such as KNX, Creston and Control4 as well as to IP telephony and to the lift emergency call system. The door call can also be received on mobile phones, a laptop or by app on a smartphone.

Special functions and individual developments
Siedle Access allows specific applications for safety and comfort to be implemented. The Concierge software, for instance, supplies all the functions for convenient telephone call and door call forwarding. It also enables access controls from other suppliers to be connected so that even very stringent security requirements can be met. However, Siedle also supplies its own access control systems such as for lifts that only serve certain areas after receiving authorization. In response to customer requests, Siedle Engineering has also developed a software solution with speech announcement especially for lifts. The flexibility and high customer orientation of Siedle can also be seen in the programming of visualizations that can be used, for example, to incorporate Access into the virtual site plan of an operations or security centre.

Technology meets design variety
Siedle Access can be combined with all Siedle design lines such as the classic Vario or the individually produced Steel design line with its solid metal surface. Siedle also supplies a unique selection of indoor stations for interior applications. The Siedle Access system is thus able to supply an impressive design to combine with any architectural surroundings.

Fig. 2: The administration building of the Danish textile producer Bestseller in Aarhus (C.F. Møller architects) places high demands on the flexibility of the building communication. Siedle Access was therefore the system of choice for the new building with 800 workplaces.

Fig. 3: Following extensive refurbishment, the listed Haus der Wirtschaftsförderung (Business Development Institute) in Hannover, designed by Peter Behrens, offers space to start-up companies. The heterogeneous uses contained within this building call for a system with flexible communication technology that allows for expansion. The public sector developer therefore opted for the network-based system of Siedle Access.

Fig. 4: The Schwarzwald-Baar Hospital in Villingen-Schwenningen by TMK Architects is a modern large-scale hospital with a capacity of 1,000 beds. The Siedle Access system is part of the network technology. From the suppliers' entrance to sensitive areas such as operating theatres, the system ensures that only authorized personnel gain access to specific areas.
