Can repeaters from Siemens Gigaset be used or are repeaters required with more than 2 channels ( e.g. KIRK)?

For video transmission, Scope uses channel bundling. There are currently no repeaters which support this process.

How great is the wireless range (compared to normal DECT telephones)?

The range corresponds to other DECT telephones: Up to 300 m outdoors, up to 50 m in buildings (highly dependent on the building).

Are calls automatically forwarded from one Scope base station to another (DECT roaming)?

Not with Siedle Scope alone. DECT roaming can possibly be implemented by connecting the base station to a DECT system. In this case, however, because roaming is a function of the system, any information provided is subject to verification.

How many cordless handsets can be logged into one base station?

A maximum of 8 cordless handsets can be logged in.

At how many cordless handsets can a picture be displayed simultaneously?

At all the cordless handsets (maximum of eight) belonging to one base station.

Is the picture visible at the cordless handset even if a different cordless handset is being used to make the call?

When a door call occurs, the picture appears at all the cordless handsets. This also applies if a public network call is being held on one of the cordless handsets. If a speech connection is established from a cordless handset to the door, the picture only appears at this cordless handset.

During a door call (with a cordless handset), is it possible to make other calls using the other cordless handsets?

Yes, both a public network call and an internal call, provided the DECT channels are free.

Can cordless handsets from other manufacturers also be logged in?

Yes, provided they operate in compliance with the international GAP standard. DECT-GAP (Generic Access Profile) permits communication between DECT units from different manufacturers.

Which ECO mode is used?

In the ECO mode, the transmission output is reduced to around 10 - 15 per cent.This reduces the outdoor range to around 100 metres, and inside buildings to around 15 - 20 metres (depending on the building). The ECO mode is activated under Settings.

According to which standard is the call number display realized?

International standard for FSK (frequency shift keying) or national standards in some countries according to DTMF (SDMF) signals.

The base station recognizes DTMF and FSK, and so switches over automatically.

Do the buttons in the charging cradle still work if the cordless handset is not present?

No, the charging cradle does not establish its own wireless connection. Without the cordless handset, the buttons on the charging cradle have no function.

Are the buttons on the charging cradle always lit up?

No, only when the cordless handset is in the charging cradle and the charging cradle is supplied from the power supply unit.

Can several Scope cordless handsets be called in parallel within a bus telephone group?
Yes, the base station is an In-Home user, meaning that it can be integrated into a group, also as group speaker.

Can several Scope base stations be called together with other In-Home devices in a group?
Yes. Every base station is one In-Home bus user. In this type of configuration, it is beneficial to nominate one wired In-home device as group speaker, as this does not need any supplementary supply. Scope has a power supply unit for supplying the base station. The energy supplied by the bus is sufficient for the In-Home interface.

Is there any acknowledgement signal (at the base station or cordless handset, optical or acoustic) when configuring by means of Plug&Play?
Yes, in the form of an LED alongside the programming button for In-Home at the base station. The cordless handset is not involved.

Door release possible at any time?
Yes provided at least 1 DECT channel is free.

Can door calls or internal calls be forwarded to the "public network"?
Door calls can be forwarded to the telephone network, but not internal calls.

Can door calls from Scope be forwarded to In-Home telephones?
No, but if the recommended parallel operation is used, both Scope and other In-Home devices are called. The call can be held using any called device.

Call differentiation between public network / internal / storey and several doors?
8 freely assignable call tones: Door, internal, storey, public network; Differentiation between different doors by means of display text.

How many switching / control functions are possible?
Max. 15 In-Home functions (corresponds to deluxe models of the stationary call stations BTC and BFC 850).

Are manual door dial, door dial with video (camera connection) and camera sequences possible?
Yes.

Can a door call be picked up by a different base station (or a different In-Home device) (pickup function)?
Yes, the door call is picked up by dialling the "last door" at the Scope picking up the call (corresponds to a the "double click light button" function at other In-Home call stations. (This function must be enabled by the BPS.)

Can the Scope address book be read out using the bus programming software (BPS)?
No.

Is the DCA still necessary in conjunction with Scope?
Not in the same residential unit.

Can in-home messages be displayed?
No.

Is it possible to actuate a BVD (picture on TV) with the base station?
There are no plans for direct actuation through Scope. We recommend actuating the BVD from a parallel operated wired In-Home device to display the door picture on a TV screen. Actuation with Scope requires additional components (DCA 650/DCSF 600/BSE 650/BVVU 650).

Is Scope able to transmit/receive internal calls to/from In-Home telephones?
Yes.

Is Scope able to transmit/receive internal group calls / group announcements?
Not as an Intercom function. If Scope is connected to a TC system, it can receive or transmit group calls as a PBX extension, provided the system supports this function.

Does Scope support the In-Home call-back function / with status display?
No.

What is the longest time a connection to the door can be maintained?
If the user does not terminate the call to the door using the button, it is closed automatically for security reasons. In the as-delivered status, this happens after three minutes. This period can be programmed to be anything between one and ten minutes (using BPS).

How many video pictures are transmitted per second to the cordless handset?

5 pictures per second.

Are pictures automatically saved (video memory)?

No, the video memory function is performed by a wired deluxe call station (BFCV or BTCV) in (recommended) parallel operation with Scope.

What sort of a display is used?
A brilliant, high-resolution 5.5 cm TFT colour display with a resolution of 320 x 240 Pixel.

Which menu languages are available?
There are 10 languages available: German, English, French, Danish, Swedish, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Norwegian and Polish.

May the Scope devices be sold and distributed for instance in Spain (irrespective of whether a language variant is missing)?
Yes. The country-specific variants differ only in the base station, which is adjusted to country-specific public network connections (plug and software). The cordless handsets are the same on a Europe-wide basis (exception: the SZM 850-0 for GB is different in terms of its power supply unit). For details, see the order catalogue 2010/2011, page 286-287.

Are the power supply units of the base station and charging cradle identical / interchangeable?
The provided power supply units are identical.

Language and country variants

Can an address from one cordless handset be transferred to a different cordless handset?

No, every address book must be separately managed.

Which call tones can be selected at the cordless handset?

The Scope cordless handset offers 8 different call tones for free assignment of the following call types: Door call, public network call, internal call, storey call. It is not possible to distinguish between a single door call and a call to a group.

How does Scope distinguish during input between speed dial, internal dialling to a TC system and a local call number?

Speed dial is initiated by pressing the key pad for longer (3-4 secs). Internal and external dialling is generally distinguished by a preceding code number or a preceding symbol, for instance the hash. This is dependent on the TC system and its setting.

What happens if a public network call comes in during an existing door call?

The public network call is superimposed into an existing door call, the door call can be terminated and the public network call accepted.

What happens if a door call comes in during an existing public network call?
The door call is superimposed into the existing connection, the video image is displayed. Door release is possible without terminating the public network call. If the caller wishes to speak to the door station, the public network call is parked and continued after completing the door call.

What is the longest time a connection to the door can be maintained?

Is it possible to selectively call individual cordless handsets from the door station?
It depends. As with any other In-Home call station, it is possible to selectively dial a base station. As standard, all cordless handsets registered to a base station then receive the call in parallel. However, if required this can be restricted in the settings.

How can a door call be signalled both to Scope and to system telephones of a TC system?

In this case, an additional DCA 650 is required, which has to be programmed as a BT group.

Can Scope be operated with an answering machine?
Yes, Scope behaves in this way like any other DECT telephone. It can be operated in parallel to an answering machine at the same telephone connection unit. There are different possibilities for combining several Scope units with one answering machine:
1. Virtual voicemail of the type offered by most telephone or VoIP operators. The messages are stored by the provider and can be accessed by the telephone or Scope.
However, some providers, including Telekom with its T-NetBox, require a longer flash time of around 250 milliseconds. As Siedle Scope works with a flash time of 100 milliseconds, operation does not work with these providers. Please enquire with the provider regarding the necessary flash time if you intended to use a virtual voicemail facility.
2. External answering machine, e.g. from Tiptel or Audioline, connected together with Scope at a TC system. These pick up calls as internal PBX extensions. Operation from the telephone/Scope is synonymous with remotely accessing the answering machine.
3. Speech boxes, for example in the DSL router or in a TC system. With a Fritz!Box for example, the integrated answering machine can be called by the telephone/Scope with "**600". It is operated by number entry.

Does Scope signal that there are messages waiting in the answering machine?
This depends upon the answering machine used:
1. Virtual answering machines call when a message has been left. This call is displayed on the screen. If the number is stored in the directory, also in plain text, for example as "New calls“.
2. External answering machines do not forward signals to parallel operated devices or PBX extensions of a TC system. Messages are therefore only signalled at the answering machine itself.
3. In some cases voicemail boxes in devices such as DSL routers support MWI (Message Waiting Indicator). They signal one message per call, in a similar way to the network provider's virtual answering machine. Others send an e-mail and/or an SMS if there is a message to be picked up.
