26.06.2007 More than 1000 design experts, culture enthusiasts, politicians and economics specialists met on June 25th at the Opera House in Essen to fete the prize winners of one of the world's biggest and most important design competitions. The climax of the fully packed program was the gala of honour, at which the most prestigious prizes were handed over in person.

666 of the 2,548 products entered into the red dot product design award came away with a prize, but only 43 were honoured with the accolade "best of the best" for outstanding design merit. Only the winners of this special prize of honour were invited to take to the podium to receive their award. For Siedle, Chief Executive Horst Siedle and Eberhard Meurer, Head of the Design Department and Board Member, both went up to receive this hotly contested prize.

The company was distinguished for the series of new in-house telephones launched in 2006, whose design represented a whole new radical departure for Siedle designer Meurer. His bold innovative approach paid off: The new devices have already been the recipient of four significant design prizes.
