Three nominations for the German Design Prize

23/07/2008
Siedle qualifies on multiple counts for the most significant design award to be conferred in Germany: Three products to emerge from the Furtwangen plant have been nominated for the German Design Prize 2009.

It is not possible to apply as a candidate for this highly prized award. The Economic Ministers of the German states or of the national government nominate the candidates. Only products which have won at least one prestigious design award are entered on the nomination list. This makes even a nomination for the German Design Prize an accolade in itself – it is considered the "prize among prizes".

There were three different Siedle product groups nominated: The Siedle Steel communication system, the Compact Select sets and the handsfree telephones. Both the Compact Select sets and the handsfree telephones have already received the red dot product design award. The handsfree telephones have also been conferred with the quality award "ausgezeichnet! Universal Design“. The Siedle Steel communication system has already received a number of highly prestigious awards; the most recent was the Good Design Award conferred by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.

Consequently, Siedle is well in the running to bring home the "Prize among prizes" in 2009. It would not be the first time: The Furtwangen-based company has already won Germany's most prestigious design award on two previous occasions.
