Fingerprint 2.0: Smart security
Model updating at Siedle: The fingerprint reader now comes with new software. It means better fingerprint recognition and simplified operation coupled with enhanced security.
Fingerprint recognition is the most proven biometric access method. One of its outstanding achievements has been to make integration into door communication systems an affordable and practical option also for private households. With newly developed firmware, Siedle is now improving the operating and recognition quality of its fingerprint reader. The system is becoming smarter, with enhanced capability to learn the changing characteristics of fingerprints - for example in children. Tolerance to changed user behaviour has also increased, meaning that scanned-in fingerprints are also recognized even where the finger is not drawn exactly evenly over the sensor.
Another major contribution towards enhanced operating convenience is the optimized teach-in process, which ensures improved identification. Both these two improvements are a benefit particularly for people with less distinctive characteristics. Their fingerprints can now be detected more quickly and with greater reliability.
The system is also becoming more secure: The new firmware completely blocks users if an unauthorized fingerprint is scanned in several times in succession. The block can be reversed at any time by scanning in an authorized fingerprint.
All Siedle fingerprint readers are expected to be equipped with the new firmware from mid December 2010. Using the programming interface and bus programming software, the electrical installer can also install the new firmware in existing customer systems. The proven thermal line sensor, the ergonomic design and the unlimited suitability for outdoor use are unchanged – as is the price. |
