Siedle Select nominated for the German Design Prize 2011

Siedle has qualified for the premier design award conferred in Germany with its new letterbox from the Select design line. The German Design Council has nominated it as a candidate for the German Design Prize 2011. The panel of judges expressed particular praise for the clarity and individuality of the styling and the innovative material combination of aluminium and plastic.

Even to be nominated for this "prize of prizes" is a great honour, as individuals or companies are not invited to apply themselves. The Economic Ministers of the German states or of the national government nominate the candidates. Only products can be nominated which have already won national or international awards. The Siedle select letterboxes, which innovatively combine the functions of post receipt and intercom, won the red dot product design award 2010 back in the spring.

The German Design Council, which puts up the German Design Award, is one of the world's leading authorities in the field of design. It stages regular exhibitions presenting a topical snapshot of German product design to an international public. Siedle is frequently one of the featured producers: The Select letterbox, Select light and hands-free telephones joined the "Design Deutschland" exhibition tour in the spring from Milan to New York. The Council also proposed using Siedle styling as part of the German pavilion exhibition at the Expo. The manufacturer's hands-free telephones are showcased as examples of the art of engineering and design "made in Germany".
